The most basic and immediate objective of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is to develop student communication ability.Of all the components within a comprehensive Chinese language course,oral classes have the most direct relationship with improving student communication ability.Intermediate-level oral education forms a connecting link between basic and advanced level language learning,and thus is a key to future success in mastering Chinese.Communication exercises are a key segment of transforming student language ability into the ability to communicate.However,the current state of intermediate-level oral education is such that classroom communication exercises are not sufficiently brought into play;student oral ability can thus only improve slowly.If the design of classroom communication exercises sufficiently takes into account student language ability and communication requirements,incorporates interesting topics and classroom activities,and allows for teacher-led guidance during the course of these activities,then student language and communication ability can be effectively improved.Nowadays,the researches of teaching Chinese as a foreign language are mainly focus on teaching methods,and other fields,less are about communicative activities in oral Chinese class.This article aims to investigate intermediate-level oral Chinese classroom activities from the angle of constructivist theory.Detailed analyses of the theoretical basis,design principles and points of attention of classroom communication exercise design are all methods for exploring effective ways of designing such classroom activities.The function of improving classroom communication activities on improving student oral ability,by means of four processes—selecting communication topics according to student language level and requirements,basic preparation for guiding students to use language accurately before classroom communication activities,teacher-led guidance during said activities,and making use of various forms of communication activity—shall be subject to this research.The ultimate purpose of this research is the provision of a reference for future educators preparing classroom communication activities to consult.
