Shi XiaoZhang lived in Tang Dynasty, their family rose abruptly in the 9th century and had been in power of Weibo Province.Because of the differences of historical sources,There has been a fierce debate on the family’s ethnic background in academic circles. There has been four views on this question : Xi,Soghdian,Uighur, and the Turks.By comprehensive surveys and relevant historical sources, the essay thinks that the four views cannot explain perfectly. The family has a really close relation with the two positions—Lingwu and Jiankang, and regards Beihai as their Junwang, which provinces that they are Soghdian. The newly excavated epigraph of Shi Xiaozhang records some information which also confirms this point. The reason why some historical resources said the family was Xi,is that the family had a close relation with Xi after they came to Hebei region.Combined with deep explanation,we can get some underlying and new messages about the family, such as the migratory pathway and general era of removal to Hebei, and the close relation with the famous event—Rebellion of An Lushan and Shi Siming.By observing and studying,we could find it that the family had a multi-relational networks with multi-forces : Chengde、Cangjing military governorship, domestic military powers, leading families in Hebei, and the the Tang central authorities. The multi-relational networks played an important role in all these events —Shi Xiancheng became the Jiedushi of Weibo Province, strengthened the power initially to some extent, some members of the family secured official position in the Tang central authorities after the mutiny of Yabing.
