The paper is based on the translation of Routledge Encyclopedia of Translation Studies, which is coauthored by Mona Baker and Gabriela Saldanha. In the book, the two authors research and illustrate the key problems in translation theories in alphabetical order. As a translatological dictionary itself,it is necessary for English learners. In the process of translation, the author feels it difficult to achieve equivalence between the original and the translation because of the stiff and obscure expressions in target language.Based on the difference of expression between English and Chinese, the author, from the lexical, syntactic, and rhetoric perspective, summarizes the methods how to shift and convert at the stage of expression to guarantee the loyalty, fluency, and the understandability of the translation.
