Practice Study Report On E-C Translation Of The Story Of Doctor Dolittle

Since the 1980s,children's literature translation research has been on the rise in the West,while scholars and researchers in China pay less attention to it.In the era of globalization,with the expanding of cultural exchanges and the introduction of foreign children literature,it is urgent for Chinese scholars and researchers to study foreign children literature and translation.The Story of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting is a classic in the field of children literature.After thorough literature review,the author of this report finds that there haven't been any studies of Chinese versions of The Story of Doctor Dolittle so far.Based on the translation practice of children literature The Story of Doctor Dolittle,this practice study report studies and summarizes the translation process and translation action by using the research methods of text analysis,case study,comparison and induction.Under the guidance of reception theory,the author of this report focuses on analyzing and studying the specific translation strategies adopted in this translation practice from the aspects of words,sentences and text.The author of this report holds that reception theory is of great significance and practical value to children translation practice.Children literature translators should take children readers as the core.After thorough understanding of the original work and grasping the basic language features of children's literature,they should take children readers'cognitive level,thinking ability and horizon of expectation into consideration and adopt flexible and comprehensive translation strategies,making translated works acceptable by children readers.This report enriches the studies of the Chinese versions of The Story of Doctor Dolittle and provides a certain reference for children literature translation from the perspectives of translation theory,research methods and translation strategies.
