Abstract/Summary:
Different from adult literature, children’s literature has its own particularity and it makes great differences to children’s growth. Moreover, children’s literature also has the functions of entertaining, educating children and improving their cognition.Translation of children’s literature aims to introduce readable,easy-to-understand literary works to target children. Therefore,it is necessary to do translation and translation studies of children’s literature. The author, based on her translation of The Chronicles of Narnia(mainly book II,book IV and book V),analyzes translation of children’s literature from the perspective of reception aesthetics in this report.Reception aesthetics focus on the reader’s role in literary communication and take reader’s reception as the goal. This report attempts to demonstrate that reception aesthetics plays an indispensable role in the translation of children’s literature by illustrating translation of words, sentences and figures of speech under the principle of children orientation. It is hoped that this report will prove to be of great help to others as well as to the author herself in future translations of literary works for children.
