This translation report selected Last August in Biarritz written by a Russian American writer Maxim D.Shrayer published in 2008 as the original text.Maxim D.Shrayer was a literary critic and writer. As a representative of the new generation of writers in the 20 th Century, his works had values to explore. He began to write novels with bilingual in 1987 after moving to the United States.Rich experience of immigrant life provided him lots of literary material.Last August in Biarritz was in the background of Russian Jewish immigrants in the United States, exposing the immigrant groups who were forced to leave their home and with no spiritual backing, showing the immigrant groups' deep feelings of nostalgia. On the basis of translation practice, the author analyzed the problems encountered, such as understanding and translation of difficult sentences and complex sentences, and translation of coherence in context. This report was divided into four chapters. The first chapter was introduction, which mainly introduces the background, objectives and significance of the project. The second chapter was the background and analysis of the original text. The third chapter was the process of translation, which was supported by functional equivalence.I applied literal translation and free translation, amplification and omission, and division and combination to solving translation problems. The fourth chapter was conclusion, including the enlightenment and problems to be solved.I thought that preparation before translation, correct understanding, expression and revision and flexible translation skills were indispensable in translation.Meanwhile, improving the humanity qualities was the eternal theme of translators.
