A Report On The Escort Interpreting Of Jiaozuo Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area

This translation practice report uses the escort interpreting practice of Jiaozuo Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area as the material resource.This practice is the interpretation of the Chinese guide's explanations for the American tourists during the tour of this scenic area.This type of interpreting is liaison interpreting,which is doing the interpreting sentence by sentence.This interpreting practice was not only an opportunity for the interpreter,but also a challenge.The tour guide interpretation generally uses plain language,which is full of improvisation and fun.Based on the characteristics of guide interpreting and good interpreting preparation,the interpreter attempted to adopt different translation methods under theoretical guidance of Skopos Theory,such as amplification,explanation,omission,conversion and combination.The interpreter completed the escort interpreting task smoothly finally.The report summarizes the whole process of interpreting,including four chapters: interpretation task description,interpretation process,interpretation practice case analysis and interpretation practice summary.The first chapter describes the background and the requirements and goal of the task;the second chapter introduces the preparation before interpreting work,the implementation of interpretation and the difficulties as well as problems during the interpreting;the third chapter lists some interpretation cases and difficulties that were dealt with different skills under the guidance of Skopos Theory,and summarizes the problems and solutions in the process of interpretation;the fourth chapter sums up the gained experience and lessons in this practice,which is aiming to clarify the direction of future efforts,strengthen a large number of knowledge reserves and improve the abilities and skills constantly in the future.This practice report will play a positive role in the tourism promotion of the Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area,and it could also enrich the application research of Skopos Theory in tourism interpretation.The interpreter also hopes that this report can provide some references for interpreters when they are doing the interpreting of such kind of texts.
