The Mentality And Poetry Of Literati Engaged In Mufu In The Years Of Daoxian

The literati engaging in various tents or offices was an extremely important cultural phenomena in the years of Daoxian.More and more scholars and poet can only assuming employment in mufu because of the reality of political corruption.This experience had an important impact on their mentality and poetry.The main objective of the present thesis is to examine the relationship between the mentality and poetry of literati engaging in mufu,and particular attention will be given to exploring the individual and influence of the mentality.The first chapter of this thesis discusses the relationship between the literati engaging in mufu and the statecraft ideological trend in the late Qing Dynasty.The situation of the low position and the absence of the right were the typical limitations of the thought on social affairs.The literati engaging in mufu made the concept partially implemented,which also affected the later generations.The special situation and the psychology of the literati who entered in various offices is also be discussed.Coexistence of free and attachment were the main features.Due to the free state,they can accomplish their ambitions in mufu,despite the plight reality of the failture of imperial exam,personal temperament and official corruption.But it also made it difficult to break away from the mufu,forming a deep attachment mentality.The last two chapters focus on the relationship between the mentality discussed above and poetry.The second chapter investigates the influence from the subject level,while the third chapter from the perspective of poetic style.As an important place for the gathering of the literati,the mufu were sites for mutual influence and infiltration of literary ideas and regional culture.The realistic poetry creation,especially concerned about the national economy and the people's livelihood,contributed to the simple and true style.Meanwhile,the subject matter of poetry had been expanded greatly,such as scenery poetry,the poetry of war.Faced with the severe reality of domestic trouble and foreign invasion,their poetry style also reflects bitter and helpless.
