| As a typical immigrant country,Australia’s large population of overseas Chinese has been a popular issue in academia.The Confucius Institute at The University of Western Australia(CI for short),which is the first Confucius Institute in Australia,is gradually playing an indispensable role in promoting relations between Australia and China,as well as in facilitating cross-cultural communication between two countries.Naturally,the Confucius Institute at The University of Western Australia is focusing on overseas Chinese in recent years.Various activities are carried out jointly with Chinese community and CI.Meanwhile,CI has developed a series of practice and search at this field,which is about the characteristics of Chinese cultural identity.This article is going to discuss the topic of reflection on linguistic and cultural practices of overseas Chinese cultural identity by CI.This is not only beneficial to help local Chinese in Western Australia to review the problem of recognition on cultural identity,but to spread Chinese culture broadly.Moreover,it would also have been helpful to the constructions of other Confucius Institutes across the world. |
