With the development of China and the exchange of the world culture,a new global trend of Chinese Language and Culture has been set off all over the world.More and more people are learning Chinese,and they have a strong interest in Chinese culture.Among these traditional Chinese culture,calligraphy,as one of the most representative cultures,is the quintessence of Chinese art and the artistic expression of Chinese characters.Therefore,teaching or experience activities of calligraphy culture can not only promote Chinese culture,but also serve as an auxiliary form of Chinese character learning,to promote the development of Chinese teaching.This paper summarizes some teaching methods according to the author’s own experience in teaching calligraphy abroad,and also explores a new strategy different from the traditional teaching model of calligraphy,which is actually applied to Australian primary and secondary school students and adults.At the same time,calligraphy class is integrated into the teaching mode of Chinese calligraphy culture.The article is divided into five parts.The first part is the origin of the study.It introduces the purpose and value of the study,makes a summary of the current research on calligraphy itself and culture teaching,it explains the research status and describes the research methods.The second part introduces the characteristics of the Community Calligraphy Class from the two perspectives of learners and calligraphy class,which paves the way for the study of calligraphy teaching strategies.The third part is the focus of the text.It establishes the strategy of calligraphy teaching from five points of calligraphy teaching-aim,principle,emphasis,contentand curriculum principles.At the same time,it compares calligraphy teaching between the Calligraphy Class and Primary and middle schools at home and broad,summarizes the particularity of the Calligraphy Class.According to this particularity,it discusses seven teaching strategies combined with the Calligraphy Class and the actual situation of the learners,such as,deductive stroke writing rules,common features of inductive radicals,strengthening Chinese writing training,reasonable comparison of Chinese characters,using contextual teaching,self-discovery and cooperative inquiry.The fourth part is based on the survey results of the three stages of the students in the front,middle and late stages of the teaching of calligraphy.It has caused a series of teaching reflections and obtained some teaching inspiration.The last part is the conclusion of the whole text.It makes a brief summary of the research on the teaching strategies about calligraphy class.The author hopes to help students learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture,summarize relevant suggestions for foreign calligraphy teaching,and promote the development of Chinese Language and the Spread of Chinese Culture better.
