A Comparative Analysis Of Thai PAT7.4 And New HSK 5

Due to the increasing of cross cultural country, especially Chinese culture. There is not only about the culture but also the language is also extremely interesing for Thai people. A huge number of Thai people choose to learn Chinese as a third language( The most of Thai student has English language as a second language). Moreover, Thai’s government has support Thai students to learn Chinese language by providing Chinese course in Thai education system as a new subject.There are two main examination qualification for entrance the university which are Professional Aptitude Test (PAT) and New HSK level five (HSK five). These two examination use to test for Chinese language level of student in order to entrance further study in the university.There are many inconsistencies between the two examinations, such as vocabulary,grammar, Chinese culture, pronunciation, Chinese characters and so on. Based on the national education examination service center and Hanban announced in 2010 three Thailand college entrance examination in Chinese PAT7.4 and three sets of new HSK level five (HSK five) test as the data sources, were analyzed from the vocabulary, grammar and Chinese culture.This paper is composed of five chapters. Firstly, the introduction, this chapter will focus on the background of the research including the general information about PAT and HSK, the research method and the corpus source. Secondly, the analysis of Professional Aptitude Test (PAT) in terms of vocabulary types, grammatical categories and cultural content in the examination.There is an analysis of the vocabulary types that commonly used in the exam; the example of the exam question about the grammar and the example of exam question which related to the cultural content.Thirdly,the analysis of new form of HSK examination in general. Furthermore, the comparative analysis between PAT and HSK examination in terms of vocabulary, grammar and cultural content that use in each exam and offer a proposal to teachers and students.Finally, the conclusion part will summarise the research result and the main out come from the research.
