This report is a case study of the E-C translation of an excerpt from a science fiction called Toward Yesterday by the famous Wales novelist Paul Antony Jones.In the source text,the author adopts a great number of narrative skills,creating the attractive plots,thus the translator shall not only convey the ideas of the story to the readers faithfully,but also reproduce the narrative styles through appropriate translation strategies.This report discusses how to decode the fiction from the perspective of narrative speech,narrative time and narrative point of view under the guidance of narratology,reproducing the plots,styles and aesthetic value in the target text feasibly.To sum up,the author of this report,by analyzing the fiction translation practice under the guidance of narratology,is able to present the narrative features in Toward Yesterday and explore the applicability of narratology in fiction translation.Moreover,his translation competence and taste for fiction have been enhanced significantly through this translation practice. |
