Marcuse Interpretation Of Historical Materialism

In the history of western Marxism spectrum,Marcuse is one of the most important representatives.First,he analyzes the peculiarity of Marxism from the dimensions of Heidegger’s existentialism,Frankfurt’s critical theory and Freud’s narcosynthesis.More importantly,under the historical conditions and social background in the new era,he continues to regard Marx’s historical materialism as the basic theoretical framework of the research on social reality and development,and enriches historical materialism with new research perspective and abundant theoretical connotation.Based on Marcuse’s "triple identity",this paper tries to clarify the construction process of Marcuse’s interpretation on historical materialism and explore the internal consistency of his thoughts.And then this paper explains the formation of Marcuse’s unique social critical theory system on the basis of Heidegger,Frankfurt and Freud’s development.This paper uses the research method that combines history and logic.First of all,the author,regarding the development stage of the process of marcuse thoughts as clues,explores the social background and theory origin of his theory;the author continues to clarify the changes and development of Marcuse’s thoughts during his interpretation on historical materialism.Then the author explains Marcuse’s statement on historical materialism throngh existentialism,reconstruction of freudian,and the basic content of re-explanation of social critical theory;in the end,this paper analyzes the theoreticcal meaning of marcuse’s interpretation on historical materialism and discusses its limitations so as to manifest the author’s exploring Marcuse’s thoughts on Marx’s standpoint and provide some theoretical thinking on problems faced by China on the basis of historical materialism.
