The material of this translation practice comes from June in her Spring by Colin MacInnes.Through searching on the Internet, the translator finds that the book has not been translated into Chinese before, which ensures the originality of this practice. Some challenges are encountered in the translation practice. One of the challenges is the translation of slangs and modal particles.Juvenile literature has its own language features, therefore, translators should be cautious in choosing words to meet teenagers’ speaking habits when they translate slangs and modal particles.During the translation process, the translator chooses specific translation strategies by setting the principle of meeting the readers’ psychological expectations and linguistic levels as purpose. The other challenge is the translation of long and difficult sentences. The figurativeness and the vividness embodied in the long sentences restrict the translator in picking words. These two features are taken into consideration. After reading and comparing parallel texts, the translator chooses Division and Word Order Adjustment as the proper strategies to reproduce the linguistic features of the original works. In order to solve these problems above, the translator discusses the choice of translation strategies under the guidance of parallel texts, picking the original sentences in June in Her Spring as examples to illustrate the solution of the problems. This paper also serves as a summary of the translation practice.
