| The prospectus is a kind of formal legal and financial document provided by the limited liability companies for the purpose of introducing the initiators and the company and guiding the public to buy shares of the company.In the latest years,with the rapid development of the globalization,increasing numbers of domestic companies try to be listed companies aboard and making a prospectus to gain foreign investment is a need to them.However,domestic companies have problems with the writing of prospectus and it requires the learning from prospectus of foreign companies,which makes the translation of prospectus of foreign companies necessary.The original text is from the chapter titled Risk Factors of the prospectus of the NantHealth company in America.Being a formal legal and financial document,prospectus involves knowledge about law,commerce and finance.At the same time,the original text contains medical knowledge.As a result,lexical,syntactic and textual features should be focused and the translation should follow the original language style with professional and precise expressions.Besides,the target readers of prospectus are investors,hence the target readers' reactions should be considered and the translation should be concise.This report focuses on the analysis of the difficulties and the translation methods applied.Translations of proper nouns are analyzed and are dealt with by applying transliteration and explanation.Difficulties in the translation of restrictive attributive clauses are dealt with by applying translating restrictive attributive clauses into pre-modifiers and translating restrictive attributive clauses into coordinate clauses.Reversing,splitting-off as well as following the original syntactic order are used in coping with the translation of other long and complex sentences.The writer of the report hopes to combine the translation practice with the translation methods effectively and make a reference for the translation of prospectus. |
