With the rapid development of human exploration of the universe, aerospace engineering has become one of the most dynamic and influential fields of science and technology in the 21 th century.Furthermore,as manned spacecrafts were launched to the space in succession, the development of space engineering has attracted people all over the world.More and more people are interested in the knowledge of aerospace. With real life as the source of artistic creation, documentaries show real people and real things and it will impart profound scientific knowledge to audience in a simple way which will be more helpful to knowledge spreading.American space technology is more advanced than that of any other country's.However, few people have attempted to interpret American space documentaries. Therefore, the author chose the documentary Women with the Right Stuff from BBC World Service to simulate a simultaneous interpreting(SI)practice to help audience know well about the life of the astronauts. The BBC World Service is the world's largest international broadcaster, aiming to be "the world's best-known and most-respected voice in international broadcasting".In 2016,the BBC World Service issued a documentary Women with the Right Stuff which lasts 45 minutes in length. The documentary centers on a female American astronaut called Wally, describing the discrimination that the astronauts encountered in space exploration and their contributions.Following the clue of interview that was made by Wally and the producer Sue and taking dialogue and narrative as the main expression way, aerospace engineers and female astronauts from different countries shared their own experiences and knowledge about space in different accents in this documentary.Different speaking speeds, different intonations and a lot of space terms increase the difficulty of this simulated SI.Taking interpreting material from BBC World Service documentary Women with the Right Stuff, the author has simulated a simultaneous interpreting practice and made a deep reflection on it.The entire report has been divided into three chapters. In the first chapter the author made a brief introduction to the practice of this simultaneous interpreting and was clear about the aim of this task. After that the author described the whole practice process including pre-interpreting preparation and interpreting process in the second chapter. The pre-interpreting preparation consisted of three parts: preparation of parallel text, accumulation the background information and vocabulary prediction. The second chapter mainly focused on interpreting skills case analysis is applied to illustrate how to apply interpreting skills such as sentence division, addition and syntactic linearity. In the last chapter, the author analyzed the information loss and erroneous information that encountered in the process of interpreting and provided the solutions to solve the problems.
