The source text of the translation report is excerpted from the first part of Creative Teaching Approaches in the Lifelong Learning Sector,co-authored by Brendon Harvey and Josie Harvey. The book is aimed at providing new teaching approaches for educators in lifelong learning sector and enabling them to actively explore, study and adopt new teaching approaches, thus encouraging learners to take the initiative in learning and developing innovation ability. The translation report consists of four parts. The first part introduces the translation material. The second part is the description of translation process, including reading lots of books on pedagogy and having an in-depth understanding of lifelong learning sector and creative teaching approaches so as to lay a solid foundation for later translation. The third part is case study.Combined with specific examples,it analyzes the difficulties in translation from the perspective of vocabulary, syntax and punctuation, involving terminologies, compound words,non-predicate structure, appositive structure, passive sentences, long sentences and dashes, and elaborates the author's thinking process and use of translation techniques. The fourth part summarizes the author's experience and lessons of the translation practice.Through this translation practice, the author realizes many problems, such as insufficient vocabulary accumulation and encyclopedic knowledge, poor command of languages and psychological quality and the lack of awareness of putting translation theories into practice. To be a qualified translator, the author should strive to gain a good command of both English and Chinese languages and enrich knowledge of specialized fields for future translation.
