For all walks of life,life satisfaction are affected by the career calling.The development of career calling for teacher is regarded as begining from normal college life commonly.Most of the normal students in the period of pre-service education are in the critical period of self-identity development defined by Erikson.A person with a high career calling would associate self-identity with career and want to experience clear sense of meaning and higher job satisfaction and life satisfaction at work.At the same time,the self-identity of college students has a positive impact on their life satisfaction.A sample of 450 normal college students in key institution and general university completed the Career Calling scale of Rosenberg,Self-Identity Status Objective Questionnaire(2nd edition)and Satisfaction With Life Scale(SWLS),which was used to explore the relationship among career calling,self-identity and life satisfaction,and investigate the role of self-identity between the others.The results of the study were as follows:First,for gender,the achievement status existed positively significant differences.The scores of males of Normal College students were significantly higher than that of the comparisons of females.Second,between types of school,the suspend status and the foreclosure status exited extremely significant differences.For thesuspend status,the scores of key institutions were significantly higher than that of general universities;But the result of the foreclosure status were completely opposite.Third,self-identity was partly mediating between the career calling and life satisfaction with the achievement status and the diffusion status of self-identity partly mediating between the career calling and life satisfaction.
