| In this century of globalization,this paper looks back at one of the past successful experiences of cultural exchanges between China and the West-the spread of Catholicism in China in the late Ming Dynasty,and focuses on one of the propaganda carriers of its localization<Jincheng shuxianr>As one of the Religious Illustrations of the late Ming Dynasty,behind this book is not only the writer Adam Schall Von Bell,but also the new revision of the European Catholic reform in the sixteenth century-Jesuit,the Kingdom of Bavaria-who provided the financial support,and even related to the the ideological dynamics of Chinese confucianism,monks and society in late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.It also can be said that through this book,we can glimpse the 17-18 century,behind the calm cross-cultural communication surface,is the surging world situation of economic,political,religious and cultural.Therefore,we focus on the description of Adam Schall Von Bell and the background of the book in the first chapter,gives a brief overview of the illustrations in same time to compare them.In addition,we sort out its orginal version,and finally talked about the process of finishing this book and its different versions.At the core part,we use the method of literature research and comparative analysis,from art and literature levels to analyze the localization of<Jincheng shuxiang>.Also comparing with the copperplate engraving and bronze sculpture to find the localized changes and creation in image and language to study the strategy of religious culture communication,heterogeneous cultural exchange and integration.Finally,this paper also makes a brief summary of the influence of this book’s localization in the history of art and religion,and further explores the reference and enlightenment effects to the current cross-cultural communication. |
