The Study Of Daniel Bell’s Theory Of Modernism Culture

Daniel Bell is a famous contemporary sociologist,thinker and master of cultural theory in the United States.His study of modernist culture has its unique and sociological advantages.This article is aimed at combing and commenting on Bell’s Modernist cultural thought.First,as an important member of the New York School of intellectuals,the evolution of the thought of Bell and the style and characteristics of the theoretical study are influenced by the school,to a certain extent the characteristics of the school are presented.Therefore,it is necessary to sort out the basic development process and the evolution of the thought of the school of New York intellectuals and the influence on Bell.In addition,Bell’s study also has its own unique perspective and value orientation.His division of three fields of society,the exploration of the contradiction of capitalist culture and the cultural outlook of conservatism have made him very unique in the study of modernism culture.The main part of the article combs Bell’s basic elaboration on the origin and development of modernist culture.The second chapter mainly introduces and analyzes Bell’s emergence,connotation and aesthetic experience of modernist culture.Bell mainly attributed the emergence of modernism to the reflection of two kinds of social changes.On the one hand,it reflected the changes in the social environment,on the other hand,reflected the change of inner feelings and self consciousness,while the connotation of modernism was mainly reflected in the negation of everything and the resistance to the first.In addition,Bell summed up the aesthetic experience of modernism as "the erosion of distance",which is mainly embodied in the erosion of psychological distance and the erosion of aesthetic distance.The third chapter mainly combs the development and evolution of modernism culture in post industrial society.Baer believes that the creativity of modernist culture is becoming more and more exhausted in the post industrial society.The economic transformation of capitalism has brought about the emergence of cultural masses and the rise of the middle class.The modernist culture is copied and transmitted by the popular culture,and is transformed by the middle class culture.This makes the modernist culture widely accepted by the society and gradually decay and vulgarization.The last part sums up the uniqueness and limitations of Bell’s thought and theory.
