In recent years,due to increasingly exchange among various countries in the world,the tourist economy in China is also developing rapidly.As one of the four ancient civilizations with a history of 5000 years,China attracts tourists all over the world with its unique cultural charm.According to preliminary data released by the World Tourism Organization(OMT)on May 9th,Chinese tourism revenue has been in the second place in the world rankings in 2016.National Tourism Administration also released data,which shows that the number of domestic tourists is expected to reach 4.44 billion people in 2016 throughout the year,including 28.142 million foreigners with year-on-year growth of 8.3%,and the international tourism income is more than$120 billion with year-on-year growth of 5.6%.With the increase of foreign tourists,the Chinese tourism industry is faced with great challenges in language service.Nowadays,foreign language publicity materials related to the tourism industry,including tourist guides,promotional materials,tourism signs and other tourist products,are very scarce,which can not satisfy the demand of foreign language service.In addition,the quantity and quality of the English publicity materials for the tourist attractions of various provinces and cities is not guaranteed,and it also affects the quality of tourism of foreign tourists.Therefore,it is very necessary to do the city tourist publicity materials translation work well,and to provide English publicity materials,which can reflect all aspects of the contemporary Chinese economic and social outlook for foreign tourists,also can reflect China's thousands of years of history and culture.Meanwhile,to convey the scenic spot information and the cultural connotations of the scenic spots to the foreign tourists accurately is of great significance to study the translation of tourism publicity and the vigorous development of tourism.The translation practice for this time selects partial content from Tourist Handbook of Fujian Province-China Tourist Handbook.It explores and concludes the translation strategies of vocabulary and sentence from Tourist Handbook combing the relevant translation theory.Aiming to the rapid development of the domestic tourism market and tourism industry and the urgent need for the translation materials of tourist guides,this translation project is to make up for the shortage of foreign propaganda materials of Fujian,and update the relevant tourism propaganda materials in time.It also provides certain materials for foreign tourists,guides that provides language service for foreign tourists and some theoretical and practical guidance for professional teachers and students.In the long run,the project is also conducive to the development of China's tourism industry,to promote history and culture of China to the world.And it promotes cultural communication and cooperation between China and other countries.It also improves cultural competitiveness to meet the needs of economic social development.In view of characteristics of tourism texts,in the translation process,the translator adopted Nida's functional equivalence theory,German functionalist translation theory and Nord's text analysis mode to conduct a text analysis on Fujian Tourist Guide,summarize the text characteristics of tourist guides and dissect major extratextual factors and intratextual factors that influence the translation practice of translators.In view of problems existing in the translation of travel English,it is concluded that to translate tourist guides,translation skills such as literal translation,free translation,transliteration,adaption,word-adding skill and word-deleting skill should be utilized,so as to effectively improve the translation quality of tourist guides.In addition,for some poetry and characteristic customs of Fujian in the source text,the translator referred to relevant books and websites,utilized Being,CNKI translation assistance and other online translation tools as well as consulted relevant professionals,with a view to precisely convey the information containing in the source text in an authentic and fluent way.Successful completion of this project has made foreign tourists understand the regional culture and customs of Fujian by providing better language service.Besides,it is expected that this paper can provide some reference for tourist guide translators.
