21st century witnesses the increasing progress of modern technology. Many self-developed technical products in China embrace the world.Meanwhile, more enterprises put their focuses on protecting intellectual properties. As one kind of international patent applications, the PCT(Patent Cooperation Treaty)patent application attracts more attentions for its convenient process and extensive effects. In China, the translation of PCT patent applications can trace back to 20 years ago, which plays a role in the process to apply for patents. The report is based on Chinese-English translation project of PCT patent applications. In the project, the writer has translated for about 100,000 words(counting based on the source texts)of texts.Based on the practice, the writer finds that the translation of PCT patent applications is accomplished under affections of intersubjectivity, rather than only by the translator. The negotiating conducts with multiple involved subjects such as source text author, translator, project manager, and patent reviewer, affect the translation.Viewed from the theoretical basis of intersubjectivity, the report sorts out and analyzes multi-part negotiating conducts in translation of PCT patent applications. It further highlights the intersubjectivity consciousness in translation of texts sharing the same type. The report consists of five chapters.Chapter 1 has a brief introduction to PCT patent applications.Chapter 2 describes related preparations before translation, which includes learning translation requirements of the patent Specification and its Claims.Chapter 3 sorts out and analyzes the related intersubjectivity studies from the perspectives of the intersubjectivity’s development and its applications in translation studies, indicating that translator should have the intersubjectivity consciousness in the translation involved multi-party communicating subjects to ensure the translation conduct.Focusing on the project, the chapter further describes the involved subjects and negotiations between the translator and other subjects.Chapter 4,combined with cases in the project, presents negotiations between the translator and other subjects, highlights the intesubjectivity consciousness is helpful for ensuring translation conducts, and advocates that translator should pay attention to negotiations with other subjects during the translation process.Chapter 5 sums up that the translator should have the intesubjectivity consciousness in translation of PCT patent applications and strengthens the patent translation’s adaptability to its practical ecology. In addition, the report at last reveals the limitations of the project for further improving.
