China's international status has been rising after China entered the World Trade Organization.We can see Chinese leaders participating in all kinds of international conferences.The interpretation of these speeches has a direct influence on the image and interests of China.Therefore,research on interpretation of leaders' speeches is vitally important.Chinese and western people are different in their ways of thinking.As a result,Chinese leaders' speeches have a unique style of their own.The study of the English version of these speeches will help interpreters better catch the meaning of speakers,and deliver in a way that is desirable for a better understanding of China.By studying examples from the English version of Premier Li Keqiang's speech at Summer Davos 2013,the author discusses difficult points in simultaneous conference interpretation and summarizes the corresponding interpreting strategies.The Summer Davos Forum is also called World Economic Forum or World Champions Forum,representing the world's economic development.The interpreting of these speeches will influence China's status in the world.Because of the differences between Chinese and English,simultaneous conference interpretation faces a variety of difficulties such as language and cultural differences,etc.Ostensive-inferential process,context and optimal relevance in relevance theory can help interpreter guess details of the speeches,seeking for optimal relevance,and resolve difficulties.Guided by relevance theory,the author discusses the difficult points in simultaneous conference interpretating and summarizes useful strategies.With good language competence and mental toughness,interpreters should solve possible problems in simultaneous interpretation flexibly.The relevance theory can help them do a better job in real interpreting.
