A Practice Report On Interpreting Strategies For Long Sentences In Chinese To English Consecutive Interpreting From The Perspective Of Optimal Relevance

With the increasing of international conferences,the consecutive interpreting hasgradually become an essential method.The interpreting of long sentences is always the key point of consecutive interpreting.Dealing with the long sentences problems properly in the interpreting process directly affects the interpreting quality.Most researchers focus on' the strategies of long sentences of the translation,but few scholars put emphasis on consecutive interpreting.This thesis is a practice report on simulation consecutive interpreting based on the guidance of optimal relevance theory.This simulation consecative intepreting practice chooses the speeches of "BACK TO CLASS" of Jack Ma Nenprofit Foundation,solving the problems of referential vagueness,redundaney and looseness of structure.The case study shows the followings.Firstly,supplementing seananties and concretizing allegations information can be used to solve the problems caused by referential vagueness.Secondly,narrowing of the meaning of words and cornversion can be used to weaken redundancy problems.Thirdly,adding logical comectors and converting sentence structure can be used to solve the problem of looseness of structure.The optimal relevance can be a helpful method to solve the interprention problems of long sentences.It is hoped that this research could provide some useful references to long sentences of consecutive interpreting.
