The Research Of Dong Yingju

Dong Yingju is a representative political literati of Fujian during the late Ming Dynasty, but the academic study on his research still appears to be weak, for most of the scholars just mentioned slightly when touch upon the Fujian local literature in the late Ming Dynasty. Focusing Dong Yingju and his literary works as the main study object, this paper researches on Dong Yingju's family background, life of official career, excursions and intercourse. Dong Yingju's lifelong concept "for the country and the people " was interpreted thoroughly in the his life, benefited one party people as worked one official term; He devoted himself to the domestic affairs, the renovation of the city and forts, the dredge of water conservancy, as well as the construction of social warehouse and field. At his old age, Dong Yingju raised donation to reconstruct Qingzhi temple, poured all financial resources to open up Qingzhi mountain with hundreds of holes, which makes a diversity of marvelous spectacle and becomes a scenic spot in the region. The article also unifies the change of late Ming society and development rules of literature itself, analysis and concludes his thought and poetry creation, draw the conclusion that Dong Yingju emphasized literature's emotional nature from the heart while not abolish the poem teaching, imposed more emphasis on the practicality of literature, which has a certain connection with the literary concept of Jingling faction "True nature theory" that was in vogue then, however there still exists obvious differences. Using empirical research and text analysis, this paper strives to outline the basic features of the person Dong Yingju and his writings accurately and comprehensively, and make a more objective evaluation on his status and influence on Fujian society of late Ming Dynasty and literary history.
