Study On English Annotations In Elementary Textbooks Of TCSL

As a language, English has the most widespread availability in the world. Therefore, it is the first choice to be used as comments and explanations of new words in textbook for teaching Chinese as a second. To note exactly in English and help learners study Chinese well and then promote their learning efficiency. However, the specialties of different languages result in that we cannot do correspondence analysis mechanically, which is troublesome in annotating Chinese characters.In this paper, we will find out the coincide words in Developing Chinese, Go For Chinese and Boya Chinese. Through detailed and statistical analysis, the reasons for the differences in the three textbooks about the coincide words have been find out. In addition, we will make corresponding suggestions to these issues in order to provide some help for future TCSL textbooks.This paper has six chapters. In the first chapter Introduction, we will describe the topic and research methods of this paper and related work in TCSL. In the second chapter, we described the basic principles of the selection for textbook, and explained why we choice Developing Chinese, Go For Chinese and Boya Chinese as the research object. In the third chapter, we first discussed the English explanations pattern, and show the statistical results of the coincident words in the three textbooks. And then, we made a classification for the statistical results. In the fourth chapter, we analyze the reasons for the different explanations about the same words in the three textbooks. In the fifth chapter, we give some corresponding suggestions to the issues that were given in this paper. The last chapter is the conclusion, and concludes the whole paper.
