Glossary annotation is one of the important components of TCSL textbooks. The language learners could get better understanding of the meaning and usage of words through proper annotation.Guided by the former theories and practices on TCSL textbooks glossary annotation study, we build a glossary database of three kinds of elementary TCSL textbooks, which are Boya Chinese, Developing Chinese and Conversational Chinese301. After searching for overlapped words from glossary of the three kinds of textbooks, we take contrastive analysis on the English annotation of such overlapped words in a multi-slice and multi-dimensionality way. It illustrates the reasons caused deviation in interpretation of the overlapped words, which also indirectly indicates the positive and negative aspect of glossary annotation in each textbook. We also put forward some suggestions in order to provide reference for the compilation of English annotation in TCSL textbooks.Chapter I specifies the significance, purpose, contents and methods of this research, also introduces the summary of former thesis on textbook glossary annotation.Chapter II clarifies the principle, content, methods of words annotation and negative transfer due to improper annotation by analysis on former research achievements and the feature of elementary TCSL textbooks.ChapterIII specifies the object for study, builds up corpus and defines the scope of this research. Quantitative analysis is taken toward English annotation of the overlapped words from the aspect of terms and forms of the expression. We investigate the deviation in English annotation of overlapped words in the way of contrastive analysis, from the angle of terms and expressions. Finding out the overlapped words with same translation and categorize the rest overlapped words with different translations into four types.ChapterIV summarize the reasons for difference in annotation of the overlapped words in the textbooks:deviation in selection of semantic entries: difference between languages; error in interpretation; influence of the context; different level of specificity in usage. Chapter V evaluates English annotation of the three kinds of textbooks on various angles, and puts forward suggestions for compilation of English annotation in elementary TCSL textbooks:relation to the context; separation of semantic rang; avoidance of extra semantic entries; proper guidance on the usage of words.Summery, summarize the full text and look up the deficiencies.
