The artisan spirit is one of the theory and practice concept which produced and condensed in the builders creation work process through repeated efforts in practice and guide practice.This paper pay more attention to artisan spirit and design teaching to explore the artisan spirit present significance.By meaning of the three artisan spirit's aspects which including ingenuity,workshops and people training as well as three stage which the “keep” of artisan spirit is heritage;the“broken” of artisan spirit is exploration;the“away” of artisan spirit is autonomous.Thus,in traditional sense,the artisan spirit is a spiritual and cultural connotation;in modern sense,it refers to the ingenuity of every step to do good things.The purpose of this paper is to awake the artisans spirit in design teaching,rather than return to craftsmen and traditional crafts.“Ingenuity” is the soul of modern design education to find.The inspiration of the artisan spirit for art design teaching in our country,this paper mainly explains from the following aspects.First,the inspiration of artisan spirit for teaching subject in teaching design.To the students,artisan spirit is a kind of devotion and faith with their major.To the teachers,adhere to originality in the process of the cultivation students which is teacher's professional spirit of a material.Secondly,the“keep”in artisan spirit is a revelation to the teaching goal;The idea of“broken” in artisan spirit is a revelation to the teaching method.The“away ” in artisan spirit is a revelation in the form of the teaching organization;As well as the artisan spirit is a revelation to the teaching process in the design teaching.Finally,the enlightenment of practice view of combination of art and craftsmanship in artisan spirit about cultivation in design teaching,the functionalization procedure and the satisfaction with the humanized appeal to the teaching evaluation in designteaching,as well as the way of creation and the dialectical relationship between innovation and creation.
