In recent years,“an exhibition style” phenomenon has become more and more popular.Almost all the creation of calligraphy is very similar,good in writing but without a meaning.Its roots are the quick success of calligraphy creation driven by interests.The consequences are biased in the direction of calligraphy creation,which can mislead the society on the calligraphy art in depth understanding and concern.This thesis based on the epigraph of The Northern Wei Dynasty unearthed in Luoyang.The author does a textual research about the origin and the history background of the epigraph calligraphy of The Northern Wei Dynasty.Generally it can be divided into four categories.Firstly,it is square-oriented,powerful,energetic and vigor type;Secondly,it is round-oriented,gentle and elegant type;Thirdly,it combines square-oriented with round-oriented,powerful and elegant;Last,it is plain and rough,simple and natural,mannerly and bold type.And analysis of each type of style is further explained.Meanwhile the author makes an in-depth research and analysis of the development of the Northern Wei Dynasty calligraphy style in the social development level of The Northern Wei Dynasty period,in the development level of regular script and the social overall level of aesthetic orientation.Also a brief description of what influence the Northern Wei Dynasty calligraphy had on the history of Chinese calligraphy is given.So inherit the epigraph of The Northern Wei Dynasty calligraphy helps restore the pseudonym of the school to order.Encouraging the masculine,bold and vigor atmosphere not only reflects the development of the times.It is also fits the reality needs of the development of calligraphy creation.
