With the rapid development of higher education internationalization, more and more subjects and professional fields have paid attention to the cultivation of top talents with international horizon. Therefore, the introduction of English textbooks has been an important part of realizing education internationalization. This report is based on the translation project of original physical education textbook--chapter 16 of Kinesiology 2nd edition. The main content of this chapter is the careers in coaching and sport instruction, which is written in a simple and plain language with few PE terms. This material is introduced from Denmark by Nanjing Sport Institute, and its translated version has been used for the postgraduates majoring in sports training during the fall semester in 2016.Since PE textbook has a special reader group, during the process of translation, the author applies Skopos theory as the guiding framework for translation. From the perspective of skopos rule, the standard of a successful translation is whether it meets the demands of target readers and whether it realizes the function of target text.In the light of Skopos theory, the thesis has a detailed analysis of the nature, the content and the function of the source text.Besides, the study also discusses the difficulties that the translator may face and analyzes the methods and techniques that ought to be used, such as literal translation and free translation,as well as conversion of word class, amplification and omission with various examples. From this process, the author gains some experience and lessons to learn and eventually finishes the entire chapter translation by raising problems, exploring difficulties and improving the quality of translation, which also offers some efforts for the teaching task of Nanjing Sport Institute.
