This thesis aims at researching the United States Chamber of Commerce (USCC), taking the theory of modernization and the theory of special interest groups as the analytical fundamental theory frame, synthetically making use of the theories and methods related to history, political science and institutional economics research findings, through the review and the analysis of the original investigation and newspapers during 1930s. This thesis briefly describes the origin and development of USCC, analysis USCC political and economic activities during the New Deal period, and USCC’s performance of participating in making the New Deal policy, and then discussing USCC’s historical influence in Roosevelt’s New Deal. USCC as a bridge between government and business cooperate with government in the first period of the New Deal. To promote the economic recovery and development of the United States, USCC take active measures to maintain economic order. During the second period of the New Deal, USCC’s cooperation with the Roosevelt administration is breakup, thus leading to against Roosevelt’s New Deal program. With its powerful political and economic power, USCC play a significant role in making Roosevelt’s New Deal policies. USCC’s historical experiences still have positive significance to organizations like chamber of commerce how to play the political and economic functions in new century.
