The Study Of Pronouns In Yuanping Topolect

Yuanping City lies in the central north of Shanxi Province. According to Chinese Language Atlas, Yuanping topolect belongs to Wutai cluster of Jin dialect. Pronouns in Yuanping topolect have various forms as well as abundant meanings, which makes it featured by distinctive regional characteristics. However, few studies have covered pronouns in Yuanping topolect within previous Jin dialect and topolect research. In this thesis, the author, for the first time, adopts synchronic description with the aim to provide an exhaustive analysis and explanation of the forms, functions and pragmatic features of various pronouns. I hope all above mentioned corpus can provide referable corpus for Jin dialect research.The thesis can be divided into five parts.Part one, Introduction. It introduces Yuanping City and its topolect. In addition,it summarizes current research on Han dialect, Shanxi dialect and Yuanping topolect as well as the research purpose, significance and method of the present thesis.Part two,Personal Pronouns in Yuanping Topolect.Based on previous documented personal pronouns,the author finds out that the versatile personal pronouns“[??33]”,reflexive pronoun“??[k??????33]”,generic pronoun“??”?“??”.In addition,the author gives corresponding explanation of words like“??”and those personal pronouns with suffixes“[??]”?“[ja]”attached.Part three, Demonstrative Pronouns in Yuanping Topolect. Based on three forms of fundamental demonstrative pronouns,the author finds another form “??[vei?3]”.Therefore, there are four basic phonetic forms of demonstrative pronouns in Yuanping topolect about “ ? and ? ”.There exist proximity-distance and proximity-distance-farther phenomenon of demonstrative pronoun in Yuanping topolect:proximity-distance-farther refers to basic forms of demonstrative distance about people, objects,proximity-distance refers to quantities, Demonstrative temporary pronouns are systematic overlap of “???”and“???”.Part four, Interrogative Pronouns. It analyzes the semantic and grammaticalfunction of interrogative pronouns in detail and explores the special usage of interrogative pronouns.Part five, Conclusion.Draw conclusion about the characteristics of the personal pronouns of Yuanping topolect in all.
