This report is based on the translation practice of The Economic Impact of Globalization in Indonesia,the No.338 paper of ERIA Discussion Paper Series.The paper contains 11,814 words in total.It focuses on the profile,history and development prospect of Indonesia’s economy,which analyses the economic impact of globalization in Indonesia from the end of the 1960s till today.Translation of such kind of book will help us to learn new knowledge of present situation and theories of economy globalization in other countries,and this will be of much significance in promoting economy globalization in China.Given that the source text is an economic text,its main function is to transmit information.Therefore,keeping specialization,preciseness and objectiveness as the main features is the key point during translation.As for the difficulties,at the lexical level,for solving the problem of complexity of economic terms,the translator chooses the technical terms in accordance with the specific context in order to achieve the standardization of translated terms.At the syntactic level,the problems lie in the different sentence focuses of English and Chinese,and the frequent use of passive voice and complex sentences,especially the long sentences and compound sentences.These problems are solved through the application of various translation techniques,such as the change of the voice,inversion,splitting and recasting.The translator summarizes the experience and limitations of this translation report,hoping that this can provide some references for the future translation of the economic texts. |
