A Translation Report On China Economic Growth Report 2016: New Challenges And Opportunities In China’s Current Economic Growth (Excerpts)

This translation report is achieved on the English translation of the fifth chapter of China Economic Growth Report 2016:New Challenges and Opportunities in China’s Current Economic Growth.As a bridge year,the year of 2016 is exactly against the background of the new opportunities and challenges in China’s economic structure from the12^th“Five-Year Plan”to the 13^th“Five-Year Plan”.Looking into those opportunities and challenges in China’s economic structure can be of great significance to the building of a moderately prosperous society in 2020.In this translation report,the translator follows three rules of the skopos theory and summarizes some translation methods by analyzing some translation cases from the lexical level and the sentence level.And the translator concludes that the skopos theory has a guiding role in the translation of economic texts.In this translation report,the translator firstly introduces the source text and analyzes the linguistic features,the text structure and the writing style of the source text.Secondly,the translator presents the origin and evolution,three rules and the research and application of the skopos theory.Thirdly,the translator describes three phases of the translation process in detail,namely pre-translation,in-translation and post-translation.Fourthly,the translator takes the case study method and summarizes some translation methods based on three rules of the skopos theory.When translating,the translator summarizes the methods of omission,interpretation and literal translation with annotation for word translation and sequential translation method,intra-sentence compression method,intra-sentence conjunction method and the division and restructuring method for sentence translation according to the differences between English and Chinese based on three rules of the skopos theory.Lastly,the translator concludes the findings,limitations and suggestions in this translation practice.In this translation report,the translator concludes that the skopos theory has a guiding role in the translation of economic texts.Guided by three rules of the skopos theory,the target text is in line with the thinking habits of the target language readers and can help them better understand the source text.In this translation practice,the translator hopes to improve the translation competence in economic texts and make a contribution to the translation of economic texts.
