In the field of teaching Chinese as a second language the integration of language and culture is always a focus, and at the same time also a controversial topic.This article is based on three theories:culture teaching in teaching Chinese as a second language, intercultural communication and teaching design in teaching Chinese as a second language. In order to explore a appropriate way for culture teaching in Confucius institution in Germany,the author combines her teaching practice in Confucius institution at the University of Heidelberg in Germany with the three basic teaching theories,analyzing and discussing the teaching design and practice for vantage-high level class.This article consist of five parts. The first part introduces the cause and significance of the topic, relevant theoretical foundations, research situations and research methods. The second part analyzes the teaching situation of language and culture in Confucius institution at the University of Heidelberg from five aspects: the institution, the students, the teachers,the curriculum, the textbooks and classroom form. In the third part,aiming at the situation of language and culture in Confucius institution at the University, the author combines with the results of surveys and examples of practice, constructing the whole teaching design from seven aspects:teaching demand, teaching object, teaching objective, teaching content,teaching method, teaching resource and teaching evaluation. The forth part is teaching practice. “Guqin”(a seven-stringed plucked Chinese instrument)is used as a cultural topic to demonstrate details of the teaching design and the teaching process. After the lessons, feedback of students,evaluations of teachers and recording of classes would be used to evaluate the achievement of this study.
