Research On Musical Features Of Yinsong

Since ancient times,China has been known as a kingdom of poetry.The Preface to Mao Poetrypoints out that “poetry is the manifestation of ideas,emotions,culture and preferences.The ideas,emotions,culture and preferences in the brain are expressed into poetry by virtue of language.Exciting and impulsive inner ideas and emotions are then expressed by language.When the language cannot thoroughly express the ideas and emotions,people will sigh;if sign still cannot realize the full expression,people will chant and sing;when Yinsong and singing cannot realize the full expression,people can’t help waving their hands and feet unconsciously”,indicating the close relations between poetry and music.Zhu Guangqian mentioned in the Historical Theory: “three arts including poetry,dance and music of ancient Greece were originated from Dionysus fiestas…In his fiestas,the officiant and believers put grapes and various plant branches and leaves on their shoulders to dance crazily and play the music with musical instruments such as harps.Afterwards,lyric poetry was evolved from the songs and dancesof these fiestas and then evolved into tragedies and comedies.This is the earliest evidence proving the homology of poetry,music and dance.”Nevertheless,all in all,poetry belongs to literature as it is one form of language expression.No one would deem a poem as a kind of music.People only say that poetry shows the musicality or the aesthetics of music.The topic of this paper – Yinsong is a special form of traditional art which integrates both language and music.Specifically speaking,it manifests Chinese classical poetry with a music-based language.It is a special manner for poetry reading and a traditional poetry learning method in China.The paper focuses on Yinsong of ancient poems.It is different from reciting and singing.Kong Yingda of Tang Dynasty mentioned in the Preface to Crying Ospreys that “sound production is called as Yinsong,sound lengthening is called as intoning and poetry is indispensable from sing.” Mr.Chen Shaosong explained it by that “so-called ‘Yinsong’ refers to the singing-like reading with a lengthened voice…” It is shown that Yinsong shows the singing-like beauty of music,depends on abundant connotations of language,shows more music attributes than reciting,and expresses fewer melodies than singing.It is a tune producing manner defined between “reading” and “singing”.Due to many historical reasons,such learning method with very strong artistry has gradually been abandoned and forgotten by the modern people.Nevertheless,in recent years,some scholars have begun paying attention to Yinsong,while some researches on Yinsong have emerged.In particular,somebooks and articles focusing on researches of “music Yinsong” have been published.All these phenomena only reflect struggles of the minority people.Due to the development history of Yinsong,most people are still quite unfamiliar with Yinsong.Based on the professional superiorities,the paper will research the relations between Yinsong language and music,relations between corresponding music tones and the poetry literariness and chanted words,as well as different kinds of music beauty manifested during Yinsong of poetry with different styles,etc.The paper expects to let more people re-accept and re-love the previous heritage on the edge of extinction.
