This thesis, using by historical geography method, cards systematically all the states and counties administrative region of Guangxi in Southern Dynasties. For the situation of some controversial administrative region which was established or abolished, especially for the new administrative region in the Liang and Chen dynasties that we can not find any information from geography section of official history today, this thesis cites and verifies extensively by corroborating in different opinions. This thesis also basically restores the general situation of administrative region estabilishment and system about that period, and discusses the factors of the change and the reasons behind its change. The administrative region of Guanxi increased sharply in the Southern Dynasties, especially in the Liang and Chen dynasties. From the early Song Dynasty to the later Chen Dynasty, the number of new administrative region added 113. The establishment of the administrative region, especially the county-level, is usually closely related to ecomomic development and population growth. But the sharp increasing number of the states and counties of Guangxi during this period is not entirely consistent with the situation of economic and population. Many new administrative regions are deformed under the influence of political factors, and lots of them were abolished in Sui Dynasty. Government influences the establishiment of administrative region and system, and the result will affect the government's subsequent establishiment in turn.
