Word formation is composed of morphemes combination for words, which is divided into single morpheme words and compound words: simplex including monosyllabic words, disyllabic mono-morphemic and multi syllabic morpheme words and compound words are containing composite method, overlapping method, additive and abbreviations.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction, introduces the selected topic reason and the research status, research methods and the significance of the study, data sources, and finally the definition of the word formation method in Chinese and Thai.The second part is the morpheme, words, phrases, roots and affixes and content words and function word definition.The third part is the comparative analysis of Chinese word formation, and find out the same and different points. The fourth part, find out the Thai students use vocabulary errors, and find out the reasons of the errors and use them to teach the student to avoid the way to use the vocabulary errors.The fifth part is the conclusion, through this study, know the word formation and the reason in Chinese and Thai similarities and differences, to use of a word in that foreign language teaching.
