The famous French writer, André Gide has been dubbed puzzling and disturbing. The reasons for this puzzling and disturbing, on the one hand from his own restless heart, on the other hand from the recipients' misunderstanding and incomprehension for him. When this writer's works into China, the translator as the main part of translation, which is bound to play an important role. In this case, Translator's life experience, education level will affect his understanding of the work, and written expression, emotional expression will affect his translation. With the increasing emphasis on translation, people gradually realized that translation in not a copy of the original, but a translator's re-creation activity, consciously or unconsciously.Meanwhile, the receiving environment also affect profoundly the inflow of foreign works and the accept of readers. Gide has always been well received in circle of Chinese scholars, and many scholars who have read Gide's works have actively introduced him to the other readers. But Gide's honesty caused his disappear for decades in China. This fault is the direct cause of the readers' incomprehension. Although he is also the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, he did not get the same treatment as other winners. And his magnum opus Strait is the Gate is a novel with a religious tone. For Chinese readers, there is difficulty in understanding. All of these issues are the questions we need to focus on in the study.
