With its continuous development, translation studies have gradually broken the original range of studies which were confined to the linguistics itself and begun to conduct a research on various influencing factors of translation as well as the relationships among them from the perspective of culture. Translation activities, as well, are endowed with the function and significance of cultural exchange, undertaking the responsibility of spreading culture in the certain social background and cultural history. The “cultural turn” theory, which was proposed by Susan Bassnett and Andre Lefevere in 1990, emphasizes the vital status of culture in translation, helping to deepen the cross-linguistic cultural communication. Also, it encourages translation researchers and translators to broaden their horizon and expand their way of thinking in the course of studying the translation theory and practice from a new perspective. The contemporary tendency of the increasingly deepening international cultural exchanges makes China more closely entwined with the world. With both traditional and network news media becoming the platforms for China to receive international information and spread its culture, international news undoubtedly serves as a vital bridge in the communication between China and foreign countries, and therefore the translation of international news draws much attention of the translation researchers and translators. This translation practice report, taking the international news on the website of “Huanqiu.com” translated by the author during the internship as materials, makes a specific analysis on the news translation examples from perspective of the “cultural turn” theory. It aims at discussing how to tackle the great differences between source language and target language and how to enhance the readability of the translation to match the reader's cultural cognition and demand. In the long run, it aims to facilitate a better application of “cultural turn” theory to news translation practice. This translation practice report consists of 4 parts, including the description of translation mission, the description of translation process, the analysis of translation examples and the conclusion of translation practice. Based on the translation practice, these four parts show the process of utilizing the “cultural turn” theory to guide the practice and that of elevating the practice to a theoretical level in the hope of providing reference and inspiration for the translation practice of international news in the future.
