With the rapid development of Chinese economy, progress is made in the aspects of medical and health achievements. As a consequence, foreign students majoring in medicine is increasing. In order to ensure the education quality of the students(taught in English), the Ministry of Education promulgated the Interim Provisions for the Control Standards of Education Quality of Foreign Students Majoring in Medicine in China in July, 2007 which points out that undergraduate medical students whose major is clinical medicine must master the basic knowledge of Chinese language and understanding China’s general situation and that,at the same time, it places stress on that Chinese language as a required course must be throughout in order to adapt to the convenience of the students in study and life and meet the requirements of the students’ late contact with patients. The issued regulations makes us realize that China’s emphasis on the degree of Chinese learning of the students.The author realizes the difficulties in the process of foreign students majoring in medicine learning Chinese in China from her own teaching practice, therefore she chooses foreign students whose major is clinical medicine in Taishan Medical University as research objects to study the correlation of Chinese Learning Strategies and Results. Qualitative and quantitative research methods are used in the study of successful Chinese learner’s learning strategy. This paper aims at figuring out the reason why they adopt these strategies and analyzing what kind of learning strategies can improve efficiently ordinary Chinese learners’ learning results. Finally the author expects to make a contribution to the learning and research of Chinese for foreign students majoring in medicine. The research findings show there is no correlation between Chinese learning strategies and results. In view of the particular characteristics of Chinese learning for foreign students majoring in medicine, the author proposes corresponding suggestions and strategies in teaching and learning.The thesis consists of five parts. The first part is a brief introduction of thethesis’ s research background, research purpose and meaning, and the definition of learning strategies. The second part is literature review which elaborates the research findings of second language learning strategies and that of correlation of Chinese learning strategies and Chinese learning results at home and abroad, which is the theoretical foundation of the thesis. The third part is the results analysis which analyzes the correlation of Chinese learning strategies and Chinese learning results through field research.It analyzes and summarizes the results of the correlation and it is the basic facts of the thesis.The fourth part discusses what kind of the corresponding strategies should be taken by teachers and students, school administrators to change the present situation, improve the level of foreign students majoring in medicine learning Chinese in China in term of Chinese teaching aspects.The last part is the conclusion which summarizes the contents of this thesis and points out the thesis’ s breakthrough,defects and improvement at the same time.
