The source text of this translation report is extracted from Chapter four of Greening IT: How Greener IT Can Form a Solid Foundation for a Low-Carbon Society. The book has collected works of several IT Experts and aims at mitigating global warming and improving living and ecological environment by decreasing energy consumption, increasing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emission. The report briefly introduces the background, significance and structure of the translation project, analyzes the content and linguistic features of the source text, focuses on the difficulties and solutions encountered in translation, and summaries experience and unsolved problems. Reiss' text typology and Newmark's communicative translation are the theoretical guidance. The communicative translation pays more attention to the accuracy of communication of ST message in TT. Based on this theory, the report adopts such translation techniques as diction, amplification and division to handle professional words and complicated sentences so as to get a more accurate and smooth TT.
