Abstract/Summary:
Adverbs in modern Chinese have variety from word to word as functional words,the study of this is very popular.Degree verbs are a type of adverb. Degree adverbs are different from each other and hard to understand, so foreign students make many errors when they are beginning to use them. There is plenty of research about degree adverbs, but little of the research is from the aspect of teaching Chinese as a second language. Analyzing from the native speakers point of view only leads to confusion for the foreign students. What’s more, the material from the previous research in degree adverbs has mainly been from corpus as well as some examples of students from classes. The current research on degree adverbs is fragmented and does not give a complete picture.The first part is talking about the research both on degree adverbs and how to apply it in teaching. And the amount of the degree adverbs that we need to focus on.The chapter two and three are based on the language corpus of Beijing Language University, and combine questionnaire surveys with statistical analysis and it will analyze errors made by foreign students whose mother language is English.Views of grammar at three levels, Inter language Theory and Error Analyzing Theory will be widely used in this thesis. According to the statistics, we assume that negative transfer of mother language and Chinese, the interference of cultural factors are the reasons.The chapter four.After finding out the factors, we need to overcome the difficulties in teaching. Bringing out some useful methods like creating a language circumstance, learning how to use degree adverbs from the easy one to hard one,hope the thesis promoting the progress of degree adverbs in teaching Chinese as a second language a little bit.
