| Objective:To study the expression of CEACAM1 in normal esophageal mucosal tissues, esophageal severe dysplasia and esophageal adenocarcinoma tissue, and to analyze the relationship between their expression patterns and clinical pathological parameters.Methods:1 Collect tissue specimens and prepare paraffin sections, the pathological diagnosis of all specimens was definite.2 The expression of CEACAM1 were detected by immunohistoc-hemistry in normal esophageal mucosal tissues, esophageal severe dysplasia and esophageal cancer.3 The relationship of CEACAM1 protein expression and clinicopatho-logical parameters was assessed by SPSS 19.0 software.Results:1 The CEACAM1 was not expressed in normal esophageal tissues. The expression of CEACAM1 was increased gradually in esophageal severe dysplasia and esophageal cancer. The positive rate of expression was 60%(24/40)and 78.8%(52/66)respectively.2 CEACAM1 expression was significantly associated with the tumor differentiation(χ~2=20.769 P<0.001),invasion(χ~2=15.231 P<0.002),clinical stages(χ~2=37.385 P<0.001)and lymph node metastasis(χ~2=13.385 P<0.004),therefore it had no obvious correlation with age(χ~2=9,846 P<0.271),gender(χ~2=7.308 P<0.753).3 CEACAM1 is expressed on the cell membrane,in the cytoplasm or simultaneously on the cell membrane and in the cytoplasm. The expression of CEACAM1 expressed more in the cytoplasm which belong to the poor differentiated and low stage esophageal cancer(poor differentiated VS high differentiated,P=0.016;esophageal adenocarcinoma tissue VS esophageal severe dysplasia P=0.003,stageⅠVS stageⅡ-ⅣP=0.008,stageⅠVS esopha-geal severe dysplasia P=0.012).Conclusion:1 The expression of CEACAM1 in esophageal severe dysplasia and esophageal cancer was more significant than in normal esophageal tissues. The expression of CEACAM1 in esophageal cancer tissue is related to the patient’s clinicopathological parameters.CEACAM1 could promote the occurrence and development of esophageal cancer.2 The expression of CEACAM1 on cell membrane can be used in the diagnosis of early esophageal cancer.Cytoplasmic expression can assess the malignancy of esophageal cancer and tumor progression, suggesting that CEACAM1 may be a new target of esophageal cancer. |
