Preliminary Investigation On The Condition Of Dental Erosion In Junior High School In Chengyang District Of Qingdao

Objective To investigate Preliminarily the prevalence and related factors of dental erosion in Junior high school students in Chengyang District of Qingdao City,PR China,so to evaluate the relationship between its gender,its acid drink habit,the parents' level of education and dental erosion.To provide the reference for the prevention of dental erosion in the region.Methods A total of 807 Junior high school students from 2 junior high schools in Chengyang district of Qingdao City were selected.According to the geographical location of the 2 junior high schools,they were divided into urban group(the second school in the downtown center)and rural group(The seventh school far away from urban areas in rural areas).The examination and record about dental erosion were done,and the frequency of daily consumption of acidic beverages,the parents' education levels,gender and other related matters were asked and investigated.According to VanRijikom improvement standard(2002),the data was analyzed and processed using the four-grid square test method.The statistical significance level was at 0.05.Results The Statistical analysis showed that the incidence of dental erosion in the sample was 56.01 % in chengyang district of Qingdao.The prevalence rate of dental erosion etching in urban Junior high school was 64.11%,compared with 47.89% in rural areas.There were significant statistical differences.(P?0.05)The prevalence rate of dental erosion was positively correlated with the consumption of beverage in junior high school.The dental erosoin incidence of students in junior high school drinking acidic beverages frequently was highest,followed by drinking low frequency of junior middle school students,and the prevalence of dental erosion was lowest in junior high school students who drank mineral water.P?0.05,There were significant statistical differences.(P?0.05)The prevalence rate of dental erosion was related to the degree of its parents' s education.The higher the degree of its parents' s education,the higher the incidence of dental erosion etching in junior middle school students,and the two were positively correlated.P?0.05,there were significant statistical differences.The prevalence rate of dental erosion was independent of gender.(P?0.05)Conclusions The prevalence rate of dental erosion in chengyang district of Qingdao city was at a higher level,which was closely related to the drinking of acidic drinks.
