Objective:To compare the short-term curative effect of laparoscopic CME and open CME in the treatment of transverse colon cancer. Methods:Retrospective analysis of the from January 2013 to July 2017,the clinial data of transverse colon cancer patients treated in our hospital.Strictly selected according to case selection criteria and exclusion criteria.A total of 55 cases were included.According to the operation method, the patients were divided into laparos-copic CME group(25 cases)and open CME group(30 cases). The operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative time to resume oral intake, postoperative first exhaust time, postoperative hospital stay, and perioperative complications included wound liquefaction or infection, pulmonary infection, anastomotic leakage and inflammatory ileus, the characteristics of pathological specimens including tumor size, number of lymph node harvested, proximal resection margin, distal resection margin,pTNM stage were analyzed, and conclusions were drawn. Results:There was no significant statistic difference in age, sex,BMI,ASA score between laparoscopic CME group and open CME group(P>0.05).The median time of operation in the laparoscopic CME group was 220(225-270)min and longer than the open CME group, the latter was 170(135-195)min,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The median postoperative time to resume oral intake in laparoscopic CME group was 4(1-6)d,and shorter than the open CME group, the latter was 5(1-8)d,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The median postoperative first exhaust time in laparoscopic CME group was 3(1-4)d,and shorter than that of in open CME group, the latter was 4(1-7)d,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The median postoperative hospital stay in laparoscopic CME group was13(9-20)d,and shorter than in open CME group, the latter was 14(10-25)d,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total complication rate was 20%(5/25)in laparoscopic CME group and 23.3%(7/30)in open CME group, the difference was statistically non-significant(P>0.05).The pathological features of the specimens after surgery including tumor size, number of lymph node harvested, proximal resection margin, distal resection margin,pTNM stage, the difference was statistically non-significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:This study shows that laparoscopic CME of transverse colon cancer is safe and feasible.Laparoscopic CME has the advantages of less blooding and faster recovery than that of open CME.The curative effect of laparoscopic CME for radical tumor treatment is comparable to that of open CME.
