Rural residents as the main body of medical action, the choice of their actions is affected by various factors. This paper uses Parsons' s "Unit Action" theory and adopts a questionnaire survey and case interview to study the behavior of rural residents in MC town of Jianping County in Chaoyang City.It is found that rural residents generally have self-care preferences and tendencies. In view of this status quo, this article innovatively attempts to put forward the notion of “materialization” that was not available in the past, and explains the reasons of rural residents' self-care from the perspective of cultural cognition. At the same time,it analyzes the influencing factors of rural residents' medical behavior. This article is divided into seven parts:The first part, introduction.Including the proposal of the issue, the review of relevant literature at home and abroad, the purpose and significance of the research, and the innovation of the research. The second part is research design. This article begins with the concept of medical behavior and uses Parsons' s "Unit Action" theory as a guide to carry out research on rural residents' medical behavior. The third part is the study sample. The basic situation of the town of MC in the survey area was introduced,as well as the general characteristics, economic characteristics, and current status of medical needs of the sample. The fourth part analyzes the status of rural residents' medical behavior. To describe the behavior of rural residents seeking medical care from the two aspects of the medical residents' choice of medical care and medical purposes. It sums up the characteristics and tendencies of rural residents' medical treatment, that is,the rural residents' medical treatment model is a passive type of medical treatment. Before they go to the hospital for formal treatment, they will spend a long time for self-diagnosis and treatment. The fifth part analyzes the reasons of rural residents' self-care.This article is inspired by the concept of “somatization” and believes that rural residents are self-diagnosis and self-treatment based on fuzzy, simple Chinese medicine knowledge or experience, and innovatively put forward the concept of “materialization” to explain the phenomenon of rural residents' self-care.The sixth partanalyzes the influencing factors of rural residents' medical behavior.According to Parsons' unit action theory, the actor has rural residents with medical behavior, the individual attributes of the actor(gender, age, education level, economic level, psychological factors, and health values),and the objective conditions(Environmental factors)and available means(social network, medical security system)analyze the influencing factors of rural residents' medical behavior. The main factors that affect rural residents' medical behavior are gender, economic income, psychological factors, health concepts, distance of medical institutions, medical and health standards, social networks, and the "New Rural Cooperative" system. In the seventh part the main conclusions of this study and the reflection of the research are drawn.
