Background and aims:Many factors can influence disease management and quality of life with patients of Crohn's disease(CD).Recent studies had demonstrated that self-efficacy is one of important factors for objective assessment of disease management and improves treatment outcomes.The prevalence of social media community,such as We-Chat in China,enhance communication and interaction between doctors and patients effectively.Our aim is to design a reliable and effective self-efficacy scale for CD patients,analyze the self-efficacy level of CD patients and assess the impact of We-Chat community management on the performance level,and analyse other influence factors of self-efficacy level.Methods:This is a prospective,cross-sectional designed study.From September 2016 to September 2017,patients with CD admitted to Nanjing university of traditional Chinese medicine were asked to fill out the self-efficacy assessment scale online.Internal reliability of"CD-yourself' was assessed by Cronbach's a.Median score per domain were calculated.Influence factors of the efficacy level were analyzed with x2 test.All the data were analyzed by SPSS23 analysis software.Results:105/125 patients submit valid questionnaire.There were 75 participants in We-Chat community management,and 30 were not involved.The domains of the "CD-yourself' for the patients showed good to excellent internal consistency,with Cronbach's a ranging from 0.61 to 0.93.Median self-efficacy scores of patients managed by the We-Chat community varied from 80 to 100%,excepting for nutritional status(Median self-efficacy scores 62.5%).The efficacy level of the participating group was higher than that of unattended group in each domain.Male patients had significantly more knowledge of their disease(median score 90%vs.81.5%,P =0.035),females were better able to communication with family,friends and coworkers about their disease(95%vs.81%,P = 0.048),and patients who received university education had significantly more knowledge of diagnostic tests(median score 90%vs.81%,P = 0.01).Additionally,patients who treated with infliximab had higher self-efficacy management compared with who did not(median score 91%vs.80%,P = 0.033)Conclusion:The "CD-yourself' questionnaire is a first step toward evaluating self-efficacy of CD patients,and managed with We-Chat social media community can improve patient' s self-efficacy.Multi-specialists,such as nutritionist,participating community management can improve Self-efficacy of patients with CD.
