Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy on stability of modified vacuum formed retainer in patients with skeletal class ? malocclusion.Methods: 27 cases of skeletal calss ? malocclusion with mandible retrusion after orthodontic treatment were selected.All of them wore modified vacuum formed retainer,the sagittal stability was observed every six months.Results: There was no significant difference in cephalometric change between young and adult patients after half a year and one year after the modified vacuum formed retainer maintenance therapy(P>0.05).Conclusion: Modified vacuum formed retainer is effective in maintaining stable mandibular relationship after orthodontic treatment of skeletal class ? malocclusion.
