Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of modified Simiao decoction to AS belonging to renal deficiency and wetness-heat type.Method:A total of 70 patients diagnosed with AS belonging to renal deficiency and wetness-heat type were collected, who visited the Department of Rheumatology and Nephrology,Xiamen City Chinese Medicine Hospital Affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 1,2017 to December 31,2017.Patients were randomly divided into two groups,35 of them were assigned to the observation group and treated with regular medication combined with modified Simiao decoction;35 patients were assigned to the control group, who were orally treated with Celecoxib Capsule(0.2 g,Bid,Po).Patients win both groups were treated for 12 weeks. The following factors were taken as observational indicators:TCM syndrome scores, patient global assessment(PGA)scores, spinal pain scores,Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index(BASFI)score, degree and duration of morning stiffness and laboratory examinations including erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),C-reactive protein(CRP)as well as platelet(PLT).At end of the treatment, the therapeutic effects were assessed, and statistical software SPSS 20.0 for windows was used for statistical analysis.Result:1.During our study,65 patients were treated. Two patients were detached from the treatment group(33 cases in total),and three subjects were detached from the control group(32 cases in total),which was not no statistically different between the two groups(P>0.05).2.After 12 weeks of treatment, the efficacy of TCM syndromes was compared. As a result, the significantly effective and effective cases in the treatment group were 6 and 22 cases, respectively, with a total effective rate of 84.55%,while the significantly effective and effective cases in the control group were 3 and 17 cases, respectively, with a total effective rate of 62.50%.There was no clinical remission in both groups.Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between two groups(P<0.05),indicating that the therapeutic effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group.3.The efficacy of ASAS20 was compared after 12 weeks of treatment. As a result,25 cases in the treatment group met ASAS20 standard, with an effective rate of 75.76%,while 16 cases in the control group met ASAS20 standard, with an effective rate of 50%.There was a statistical significance betweentwo groups(P<0.05),suggesting that the therapeutic effect in the treatment group was betterthan that in the control group.4.The clinical observational indicators were compared after 12weeks of treatment. In terms of intra-group comparisons,PGA,spinal pain,BASFI,stiffness, laboratory examinations(ESR,CRP and PLT)were statistically significant before and aftertreatment in the treatment group(P<0.05).However,only PGA,spinal pain,BASFI,stiffness and laboratory examination(CRP)were statistically significant before and aftertreatment in the control group(P<0.05),while laboratory examinations of ESR and PLTwere not statistically significant(P>0.05).In terms of comparisons between two groups, theeffect on ESR was statistically significant between two groups(P>0.05),and a more obviously declined ESR was detected in the treatment group.5.The proportion of adverseVI reactions in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, without significant adverse events in both groups during the course of treatment. Conclusion:The Chinese and Western medicine optimized treatment by applying modified Simiao decoction exerted a better effect in AS belonging to renal deficiency and wetness-heat type, compared to single Western medicine treatment. In addition, modified Simiao decoction harbored considerable safety.
